Origins & Construction

Amber Fort was begun in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I, the Kachwaha Rajput ruler of Amber. It was later expanded and embellished by successive rulers, especially Mirza Raja Jai Singh I. The fort served as the capital of the Kachwaha dynasty before Jaipur was founded in 1727.
