Satna Maihar Mandir – A Sacred Place of Devotion
Maihar Mandir, also known as Sharda Devi Temple, is one of the most famous religious places in Madhya Pradesh. It is located in Maihar, a town in the Satna district. The temple is built on the Trikuta hill, and it attracts thousands of devotees every year.

History of Maihar Mandir
Maihar Mandir is dedicated to Goddess Sharda, who is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Durga. According to legends, when Goddess Sati’s body fell to the earth, her necklace (mai-har) fell at this place. This is how the town got its name “Maihar,” meaning “Mother’s necklace.”
Climbing to the Temple
The temple is located at a height, and earlier devotees had to climb around 1,063 steps to reach the top. Today, a ropeway service is available, which makes the journey easier, especially for elderly people and children. The ropeway gives a beautiful view of the entire town.
Festival and Celebrations
During Navratri, the temple becomes very lively and colorful. Thousands of pilgrims visit to seek blessings from Maa Sharda. Special aarti and bhog are offered to the goddess, creating a divine atmosphere.

⭐ Lok-vishwas ke mutabik:
Log maante hain ki Alha, jo Bundelkhand ke mahan yoddha the,
raat me mandir band hone ke baad aakar:
- Maa Sharda ki sewa karte hain,
- Unke charanon me udhul ka phool (एक खास जंगली फूल) chadhate hain,
- Aur Maa ko chadar bhi odhate hain.
⭐ Alha ke baare me katha
Katha ke anusaar Alha ne Maihar ke jungle me tapasya ki thi.
Maa Sharda unse prasann hokar unhe amar hone ka vardaan diya tha.
Isliye bola jaata hai ki Alha aaj bhi Maa Sharda ke sacha bhakt hain
aur raat me aakar phool aur chadar chadhate hain.
